13 Random Facts
1. I’ve always loved the number 13 and refuse to think of Friday the 13th as an unlucky day. It never is!
2. I was in my first band at thirteen – a folk trio with two school friends. Apart from that, though, thirteen was probably my least favorite age to be. I felt fat and self-conscious.
3. My favorite number: 7.
4. When I was seven I decided I was going to be a writer and that I’d call myself Jean Bracklesham. (Thankfully, that part of the dream didn’t stick.)
5. When I was ten, I was stung by a jellyfish. Nas-ty!
6. Swimming in the ocean: bliss. (As long as there are no jellyfish. Or sharks.)
7. Summer is my favorite season.
8. Sunshine any time of year cheers me up. I love it!
9. Favorite place on earth: the South of France. Lots of sunshine there! Paris is pretty great too.
10. I love watching music shows: The Voice, X-Factor, American Idol. I’m a pop music fan.
(Sidenote: Hee, me too! :D I love the blind auditions of The Voice.)
11. Day job: professional pop song writer.
(Sidenote: That is so cool. I dream of writing songs too.)
12. All-time most moving music: classical. Especially choral. Like waves lifting you up.
13. Favorite food: sushi. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and supper. (At least I think I could. I’ve never actually tried it.) In the big picture, it even beats out chocolate. Shocking, I know.
(Sidenote: Sushi? Oh, no. Don't ask about me. Chocolates are very fine with me.)

Blurb (Goodreads):
Set in an imagined past, this dark fantasy-adventure is for fans of Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass. Features Jemma, a fiery-headed heroine held captive in Agromond Castle, yet destined to save mist-shrouded Anglavia.
Fiery-headed Jemma Agromond is not who she thinks she is, and when the secrets and lies behind her life at mist-shrouded Agromond Castle begin to unravel, she finds herself in a chilling race for her life. Ghosts and misfits, a stone and crystals, a mysterious book, an ancient prophecy—all these reveal the truth about Jemma's past and a destiny far greater and more dangerous than she could have imagined in her wildest fantasies. With her telepathic golden rats, Noodle and Pie, and her trusted friend, Digby, Jemma navigates increasingly dark forces, as helpers both seen and unseen, gather. But in the end, it is her own powers that she must bring to light, for only she has the key to defeating the evil ones and fulfilling the prophecy that will bring back the sun and restore peace in Anglavia.
