WWW Wednesdays (53) / Waiting on Wednesday (52): The Winner's Curse

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

Just One Day by Gayle Forman (Just One Day #1)
Gayle's writing is just sooo good. Makes me don't wanna finish the book yet.

Finished Reading:

Her Dark Curiosity by Megan Shepherd (The Madman's Daughter #2)
I didn't expect I'd like this book. Still not sure what to feel about the ending, though. Review on January 28th!

Read Next:

I'll skim first Pivot Point by Kasie West, then I'll read Split Second (Pivot Point #2).

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, originally started by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that highlights upcoming book releases everyone is waiting on.

The Winner's Curse
(The Winner's trilogy #1)
by Marie Rutkoski

Expected publication: March 4th 2014 by Farrar Straus Giroux

Blurb (Goodreads):
Winning what you want may cost you everything you love

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions.

One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin.

But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

I don't think I'd add this book on my to-wait list but I heard a lot of great things about this it, especially from the people I trusted. So I think I should try (and I'm pretty excited about it)!

  4. Just One Day is on my TBR, and so is Pivot Point. I'm torn on The Winner's Curse. It sort of doesn't sound like something I would like, but on the other hand, it sounds really good!

I'm also hesitant on The Winner's Curse at first, but a lot of people that I trust loved it so I think I should give it a try. :D
