13 Random Facts

1.  I have a Star Wars ringtone on my phone, a Darth Vader alarm clock, and an R2D2 clock.

2.  When I was younger and couldn't sleep at night, I would play the movie "The Parent Trap" (the Hayley Mills version) in my head.

3.  I swam with dolphins in the Caribbean and did a cage dive with sharks in Hawaii.

4.  I have been to the World Series (Go Rangers!)

5.  My husband and I did not go to the same high school, but had the same school colors and mascot.

6.  I put mayonnaise on my hot dogs.

7.  My writing companion is my dog, and his name is Odie Wan Kenodie.

8.  I have an entire wall in my house featuring framed photos of my kids with Santa from every Christmas of their lives, and I intend to keep adding to it until I can no longer force them to pose with Santa.

(Sidenote: I think that's really cute! I wonder when they wouldn't want to pose with Santa...)

9.  I would rather climb a tree than go on a hike, but I would rather be at the beach than anywhere else in the world.

10.  I listen to zumba music while I clean house so I can get two work outs in one.

11.  I have read all 7 Harry Potter books at least 5 times.

12.  I secretly love that my kids want to attend a local college so they can always live with me.

(Sidenote: Aww. I guess they'll never say no to posing with Santa! Haha)

13.  My Debut Year:  In March, I self-published my first novel, Isola di Squalo on Amazon for Kindle.  Immediately I realized I had a problem when the very first question I received after announcing it on Facebook was "Is it in English?"  After fielding that question several more times, the decision was made to expand the title making it The Delmar Shark Chronicles:  Isola di Squalo.  The expansion also allowed for the creation of a series.   Also in March, I created my first book trailer for You Tube and built my first website.  I made an author page on Facebook and joined Goodreads.

In April, after a long, aggravating process, I got Isola di Squalo onto Smashwords, making it available for other e-readers.

In May, I released my second book, Eyelids of the Morning, which I had actually written a year or so before but never had much success with.

In September, I released book 2 of The Delmar Shark Chronicles entitled Delphine.  There are three more books planned for the series.  Book 3 is currently being written.

As of right now, Isola di Squalo has received 21 five-star reviews on Amazon.  Eyelids and Delphine have not sold as well, but I am always hoping sales will pick up and people will become more interested in my work.  I am looking into having the books printed but am not sure when that will happen.  Regardless, I enjoy writing the stories and have really gotten to love my characters.  I hope those who check out my stories will love them too.

More about Heidi!

I am what they call a "jack of all trades but a master of none."   I write, draw, paint, cook, bake, photograph, video edit, and craft.  My most important job though is being a wife to my wonderful husband of thirteen years, Chris, and being a mom to our two precious boys, Ethan and Rory.  Between driving my "should-have-been-a-yellow-school-bus" minivan to take kids to school, pick them up, take them to various practices, and watching soccer and baseball games, taking zumba classes, rehearsing with my church handbell choir, and doing my own recreational reading, I don't have a lot of time to write.  But when I do, I enjoy it, and you can be sure I give it all I've got.  I hope to continue it and to have an audience ready for more.

Here's Heide's debut novels!

The Delmar Shark Chronicles: Isola di Squalo
(The Delmar Shark Chronicles #1)

by Heidi Peltier

Published March 16th 2013 by Self published

Blurb (Goodreads):
On the small Mediterranean island of Isola di Squalo, an ancient legend binds the fate of the royal Delmar family directly to the peace and protection of the island. The consequence of turmoil is the return of a giant shark who ultimately attacks one of the royal family.

Seventeen-year-old American Dylan Murphy is thrilled to learn that a life-long dream has been fulfilled when he is accepted to a local university’s shark study program on Isola di Squalo. He has hopes of diving in particular with the Great White shark, and learning from one of the leading scientists in the field. Unfortunately, an early run-in with the island’s princess, Terra Delmar whose greatest wish is to terminate the program, lands him with the unsavory task of befriending her and convincing her to allow the scientists to stay.

Dylan scoffs at the Delmar legend until he comes face-to-face with the shark. When a life-threatening injury sends him home, he realizes he has fallen in love with the island and its queen, Terra. The return of the shark can only mean that she and her island are in danger, and though he knows he and Terra can never be together, he feels he needs to return to save them both.

Eyelids of the Morning
by Heidi Peltier

Published May 31st 2013 by Heidi Peltier

Blurb (Goodreads):
Ethan is a sixteen-year-old boy who, with his twelve-year-old brother Rory, reluctantly leaves his boarding school for the summer to be dragged to the other side of the world by their reclusive and eccentric uncle. When their uncle finally explains that he is hunting for a true, living dinosaur in the heart of the Congo River basin, Ethan immediately pegs him for a lunatic. However, using documented eyewitness accounts, a vivid description of dinosaurs from the Bible, and, his most powerful weapon, news that Ethan and Rory’s late mother believed that dinosaurs exist too, their uncle has them convinced. They journey to the Congo and meet Shari, a missionary nurse, and her adopted daughter Maggie whose passion for the plight of the Congolese people leaves Ethan instantly smitten. Their dinosaur hunt leaves Ethan, Maggie and Rory separated from their group, facing danger at every turn, and racing against the clock to get medical help for a serious injury. In the end, they make the discovery and sacrifice of a life time, the emotional gap between the boys and their uncle is finally bridged, and Ethan learns that home truly is where the heart is.

  1. Heidi is a friend of mine. I must admit that I have not read her books. Shame on me! But I can say she is as amazing as her facts state. I am proud to say she is a friend. I will be getting a way to read her books ASAP!
