Since you asked (this is supposed to be an irony with her book title :P), here are Maurene Goo's interview answers about her being a debut author and more!
Maurene Goo
1. What do you feel about the number '13'?
I'm a slightly superstitious person so I usually feel nervous about it—but for some reason it never fazed me as far as my debut year. I would say being able to debut at all is already lucky :)
2. What's the best thing that happened after your book was published?
So many amazing things have happened—but what really stands out is when I was able to get my book to Ann M. Martin through Scholastic and she actually wrote me a nice letter about it. Best day of my life. (The Baby-Sitters Club being the catalyst for my love of reading as a child.)
3. How did you celebrate the publishing of your book?
I had to spend most of the day on my computer, sadly, but because of that, it was full of Internet love for my book which was so so fun. And then my husband took me out to a lovely dinner complete with some fizzy champagne :)
4. Do you read reviews of your book?
On occasion—if someone I know sends me a link. I've made it a rule to stop reading them otherwise, not because they are so terrible or anything but because it can get kind of nuts trying to find validation in other people's opinions. I also want to concentrate on writing my next book!
5. What is your best or most unforgettable moment with a fan?
I've actually had a few amazing moments. One lovely girl sent me this package full of the most amazing stuff, fun makeup and even a tiny pink sunglasses pin! (My cover has a girl wearing them.) I had another girl send me a necklace she made out of a pink sunglasses charm, too. And then some bloggers have become really dear to me and sent me some lovely things as well. I don't know if it's typical to get showered with gifts by your readers, but I feel downright spoiled.
(Sidenote: Don't you feel like a celebrity! *I wonder if they could send bloggers too..haha*)
6. Was there any book/s from other debut author of 2013 that you loved?
Oh man, SO MANY. I'm part of the Lucky 13s and we do this ARC tour with each other, so I've read a ton of theirs. Some that stick out in my mind are Brandy Colbert's POINTE (which comes out next year and everyone is in for a TREAT), Sarah Skilton's BRUISED, Cat Winters's IN THE SHADOW OF BLACKBIRDS, April Tulcholke's BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, Amy Spalding's THE REECE MALCOLM LIST, Lydia Kang's CONTROL, Kristen Kittscher's WIG IN THE WINDOW…really the list goes on.
7. Are you interested in writing in a different genre or for a different audience?
For sure. There are so many different types of stories I want to tell! I am very interested in writing something historical or scary, but we shall see. That will be further down the road for sure!
8. Share us one embarrassing moment you've had.
Hm what to pick from my catalog of embarrassments…the very first ballet class I ever took was in Boston, at this fancy ballet academy, but I accidentally signed up for an intermediate class and didn't realize until halfway through when the teacher discreetly told me maybe I was looking for the beginner class. UGHGHGHGHGH
9. Favorite color? Blue
Favorite movie? The Sound of Music and Beautiful Girls
Favorite ice cream flavor? Strawberry or Chocolate
(Sidenote: Oh, I love you for that! Maybe we could have an ice cream one day. Haha)

Favorite song? "Oh! Darling" by the Beatles (this was a very difficult pick btw!)
(Sidenote: Don't worry, you weren't the only one. :P)

Ultimate celebrity crush (dead or alive)? Paul Newman
10. What's next for you?
More books! Haha, vague I know. I hope to tell more stories about the characters in SINCE YOU ASKED but I also have some other funny, heartfelt stories up my sleeve. Stay tuned!
(Sidenote: Funny heartfelt stories sounds interesting!)
