Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Iléa.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

My Thoughts:

*I tried as much as I can to prevent myself from including a spoiler. However, I'd recommend that the people who haven't read The Selection yet to be careful in reading this review and to the people who wants to be surprised on reading The Elite. :)

The Elite. One of the sequels I most anticipated about after reading the first novel. Thank God I have a copy ready by my side, thanks to the publisher who sent me the first two books. Let me tell you an honest story (not that the rest of my review stories are not honest. They are. But anyway..), I tried reading a different novel after I finished The Selection. My plan is to read The Elite just before I read The One or once I received it. What do you expect? For me to keep that plan? Even my plan to sleep early tonight ruined because I was writing this review! So there you go, I wasn't able to resist that tempting cover and continuation of the story. I was that intrigued and excited. I can't sleep without reading it!

This book indeed has a lot than the first one. It's a lot that I don't know how to take it all in and how and what should I feel. Should I love Kiera Cass for writing a really good twist in the story or should I hate her because those twists actually happened! I cannot believe it. I never thought I'd be hating more than two characters at a time. My heart is torn whether to wish America and Maxon (my Team!) should end up together or hate them with all the things that happened.

One thing is for sure: I want a happy ending. All the situation happened here must be cleared and their feeling must come clean. I want to feel the genuinely of their love. I want to be convinced that they're really for each other (whoever end up together). Whatever happens in The One, I want all the details complete and realistic. Happy ever after doesn't come only on the story, it also comes in the peacefulness of the reader's heart. And I'd love to have that, after all these confusions.

The Elite is a mixture of beauty and confusion and thrill and hatred towards some of the characters at the same time. It was like I was arguing with the one I truly love. Annoying but..I love it. There's nothing I can do about it. The romance and confusion in the air became more palpable, the drama became more intense and so is the mystery. Until now I'm as confused as the characters. I don't know which feeling should I welcome, the love for this book or the hate towards the events. Either way, I highly recommend this to The Selection fans. I recommend this series to the people who likes fairytales, romance, mystery, and drama.

*Thanks so much to Megan and HarperCollins International for the print copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
