Blurb (Goodreads):
The summer of her dreams is about to get a reality check.

They said it couldn't be done, but geeky sophomore Lauren Carlson transformed herself into a popular girl after moving to a new school halfway across the country. Amazing what losing her braces and going out for cheerleading will do. Only trouble is, the popular crowd is wearing on Lauren's nerves and she can't wait to return to summer camp where she's valued for her brain instead of her handsprings. She misses her old friends and most of all, her long time camp-only boyfriend, Seth. This year she intends to upgrade their relationship to year-round status once she's broken up with her new, jock boyfriend, Matt. He doesn't even begin to know the real her, a girl fascinated by the night sky who dreams of discovering new planets and galaxies.

But Matt isn't giving her up without a fight. As he makes his case to stay together, Lauren begins to realize his feelings run deeper than she ever would have guessed. What if the guy she thought she was meant to be with forever isn't really The One? Returning to Camp Juniper Point was supposed to ground her uprooted life, but she's more adrift than ever. Everything feels different and soon Lauren's friends are turning on her and both guys question what she really wants. As summer tensions escalate, Lauren wonders if she's changed more than she thought. Will her first big discovery be herself?

My Thoughts:

*Mini review

I was pretty excited with Camp Boyfriend because I love the sound of title and because I enjoy summer reads. So why not?

So it turns out that Lauren--a former geek turned into a cheerleader--is torn between two lovers (yeah, I can definitely hear a song in my mind now) and throughout her summer camp, she's  stuck between two guys winning her heart and disasters with her friends and frenemies. You can tell that Lauren has a favorite guy between the two and knows that she wanted him more than the other. In the end, there's a twist that could confuse you but I also had a feeling that it will happen.

Camp Boyfriend was fun but I'm not impressed. Having a love triangle in a novel is frustrating and now this entire book is what it's all about. She practically think and talk about guys all the time. Not to mention the untrustworthy friends she have and other disasters that came into her way. However, I kind of like the ending and her reason for choosing the guy that she'll keep. Camp Boyfriend may not be for me but don't hesitate to try it. Maybe I just have different perception with this kind of novel.

*I should be reviewing this book for the tour. But because of the hiatus, I asked the tour host and author to review it after--once I have the time. Thanks Julie of AToMR Tour and J.K Rock!

  1. I'm so glad I read your review because now I don't feel regret! I loved the prequel I read on my ereader and the author is super nice so I bought this one. But it absolutely fell flat for me like it did for you and I DNF'd it, which I hated. I see I didn't miss anything!

    1. Phew! I'm glad I'm not alone here too. Even though I'm not impressed with this, I'm still looking forward in reading Camp Payback as I have an ecopy from NG.
