Blurb (Goodreads):
At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.

Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.

A passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance, Maybe Someday will immerse readers in Sydney's tumultuous world from the very first page.

My Thoughts:

My first book experience from Colleen Hoover was her Slammed trilogy, which I dearly loved. After reading the first two books, Slammed and Point of Retreat, Colleen became one of my favorite authors and I vowed to myself that I'd read all the books she's going to write. Maybe Someday is my second Colleen Hoover 'experience'. I haven't read her Hopeless series because I'm broke at the time of release but I'm still looking forward to read it real soon along with her upcoming novel, Ugly Love

The first thing that I loved about Maybe Someday was the music theme. I love music and books and music-themed books so when Colleen wrote this, I am beyond excited. And that doesn't stop there--this book isn't like your average music-themed novel, because it also had an original soundtrack performed by Griffin Peterson and was released ONLY for Maybe Someday! Not only readers will read the wonderful lyrics but also listen to them! AWESOME.

Maybe Someday was told in two POVs: Sydney, a girl who found out that her boyfriend for 2 years is cheating on her 22nd birthday then end up homeless; and Ridge, the guy who soulfully plays guitar on his balcony across Sydney's. These two people have different stories and experiences but they found their selves connected by one thing that's part of their lives: music. When I found out that Ridge was actually deaf, I was greatly surprised. I have never read a book with a protagonist who has hearing disability and at the same time, loves and plays music. That is where Colleen worked one of her magic in this book. She did a great job in describing what music sounds like to a person who cannot hear and how it is still an amazing experience. Music wasn't just music in this novel. Music became the outlet of unsaid words and emotions felt by the main characters, which drawn them closer. It drawn me to the story and the characters.

At one point I wondered if this wasn't written by Colleen Hoover, would I still like it? Sydney and Ridge's situation isn't something I would like to read. Mostly it frustrates and annoys me. But when I think about how they acted, how they handled their feelings and situation, and how it ended--it wasn't annoying at all. It was something I would really like on that kind of story. It was the reason why I end up loving this book.

While music was used majority in this novel, it wasn't just the main attraction. It also treasured honesty, friendship, forgiveness, and most especially, kinds of love. The love that we have to control, the love that we have to stand for, the love that we have to treasure, and the love that we deserve. Like on her previous novels, Colleen Hoover expresses deep emotions through her characters and circumstances on Maybe Someday, and that is one of the things that make her works--this book--powerful. Maybe Someday is an emotional roller coaster read, amazing, unforgettable, hilarious, and wonderfully written. Romance and contemporary readers (young adult, new adult, or adult) would love this.

P.S Once you purchase the book, there's a code you can scan to get the features (songs) and the same on ebooks too, I think. I'm not sure if the epilogue is included on the code of print copy (since I don't have a phone to scan to) and ebook. I read mine on Maybe Someday Soundtrack website (there's a password you have to enter to read it so of course you have to purchase the book *print or ebook* first).
