Can Anna find love in the City of Light?
Anna is happy in Atlanta. She has a loyal best friend and a crush on her coworker at the movie theater, who is just starting to return her affection. So she's less than thrilled when her father decides to send her to a boarding school in Paris for her senior year. But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna meets some cool new people, including the handsome Étienne St. Clair, who quickly becomes her best friend. Unfortunately, he's taken —and Anna might be, too. Will a year of romantic near misses end with the French kiss she's waiting for?

My Thoughts:

I read Anna and the French Kiss year 2011 (if I'm not mistaken) and I can still remember how I was affected and so in love with this book and swore the day that I finished it to read ALL of the books Stephanie Perkins is writing.

I wrote a review on the blog when I was just starting but after learning so many things about blogging and writing a review, I realized that my first reviews looks funny. I don't even want to describe it. :3 (But I don't think I'm gonna delete it for old time's sake. I think.) Sooo, since I loved Anna so much and years had passed since I read it, I decided to re-read it. And the timing was just great because then I found out that Stephanie Perkins will be having a book signing event here in Manila and I'm. Going. To. MEET. HER. (And I already did, on July 6th!)

Re-reading Anna and the French Kiss is just as great as I read it first time. Sure, I know what will happen next, but it doesn't stop me from feeling ALL THE FEELS. And God, I've missed Etienne St. Clair! (If only I could sleep with my book tonight and the following nights ((and pretend it's Etienne)), I would. But I won't because I don't want to see the book ruined the next morning.) And did I tell you that I DON'T re-read books? But at some point from eternity ago, I decided to re-read but only of my favorite ones. Like Anna and the French Kiss. And it's a big deal!

Re-reading this book is like looking back on a photo album. Full of memories, the little but memorable things that were saved, full of feels, life, love, laughs, heartaches, and even the slightest detail that I didn't noticed before were now acknowledged--and I felt pang. It's like you're reunited with your old best friend who you didn't intentionally forgot because you meet a lot of people on your life. It was...lovely and amazing and sad (because I have to finish and close the book again).

I remember how much I loved Etienne St. Clair, first and foremost (nyahaha). I remember the little things that actually mattered and made me squirm like the left-handed notebook, banana bead, Canadian flag, the emails and phone calls during Christmas break, Point Zero, the love poem book, Etienne's accent, Thanksgiving, and many more. I remember how much I really wanted to go to Paris because of this book. How I wanted to visit the most romantic city in the world and find my own Etienne. I remember how much I really loved the way Anna and Etienne's relationship started, built, blossom, and take root and have foundation. The jokes and easy conversations. I remember how every word of this book made me fall in love over and over again. I also remember of asking to myself whether Anna's father is inspired by Nicholas Sparks.

Anna and the French Kiss, as I realized, will always be amazing and surprisingly beautiful no matter how many times you read it. And it gets better every time. I remember how I loved this book so much and after re-reading it, I knew that I'll never stop loving this precious book. This book makes my heart warm, skin tingle, and grin a goofy grin. My dream to fly to Paris seems bigger and I promise that I will go there, visit the places Anna and Eitenne went, and stand in Point Zero and wish for my Etienne St. Clair.

  2. Good second review. This is my favorite book of Stephanie's. I liked Lola and the Boy Next Door, but it just wasn't as good as this one.
