Feature & Follow #10

Q: What is the BIGGEST word you’ve seen used in a book lately – that made you stop and look it up? Might as well leave the definition & book too.
A: I forgot the latest! But there was one time when I was just starting to read, that made me stop and think of what is the meaning of Jump in his bones?? I remember it goes like this, "I think she wants to jump in his bones." That was Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella. I knew that it was a slang phrase but I honestly don't know what it meant THAT TIME. Now I know you think how clueless I am. I'm sorry, I'm not from your country (I'm not familiar with their..slangs) and I was just starting to read that time..and it wasn't YA.
So..I felt like first grader. LOL

Happy Friday, everyone! :)

  1. It happens! I know when I read books where a character is from England and uses odd phrases I have to pause and think a moment. Sometimes looking it up too!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my FF post earlier. I am already following you via linky.

It's true that slang can be difficult to get sometimes, and then, when we do get it - it makes us feel good - yet another aspect of the language is mastered.

    Have a nice day :)

  5. Thanks for stopping by my FF earlier!

Haha, that's so funny! I never encountered those two phrases before!

  6. Slang from other countries is always tough! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Haha, that's too funny! It is fairly common slang in the US, but I can see where it would be confusing (what a weird idiom, right?) I sometimes run into expressions like that, and then I realize how naive I am.

    Just returned your follow!
