A: I can't be caught on a video because I've escaped. From the real world. And as you're reading right now, I'm probably far and enjoying the last three days of freedom. Freedom from college and last semester and graduation craziness. Right now I'm being..you know, the Escapist. ;)

Feature and Follow #22


Last week of freedom. Meaning: classes starts next week. Here comes stress and toxicness of my last year in nursing. *sigh* But for now, lemme answer this week's question. I kind of like it. :]

Q: Have you broken up with a series? 
If so which one and why?

A: Yes, I have--several actually. The first books didn't worked out for me and I don't want to continue the rest of the series ever.

The Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles). A blogger friend recommended this book to me when I was picking a book on our Christmas party. I also want to try it so I picked it. But..it's DNF for me. I can't continue reading the book anymore. It's unnecessarily long and it pisses me off. It's like we're going on circles. I would never read the rest of the series (or this book), which I bet are unnecessarily long as well.







Rapture (Fallen). I loved the first two books (Fallen and Torment) but the third book (Passion) didn't turn out to be as I expected. And this book was a DNF for me. I don't know why suddenly I became annoyed with what they're doing and saying. It's not working out so bye.










Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I was so disappointed in this book that I didn't want to continue the next book. Here's my review.












The Vincent Boys. The most recent one. I finished this book but I did not liked it. I was so disappointed and annoyed. And no, I'm not thinking of trying to read the next book. This is my first two-star review. Review will be posted shortly after this.

Feature and Follow #21


Hello Friday! And what's with Friday? It's Feature and Follow day!

Q: What blogger would you most like to meet in real life? Tell us about him or her.
A: To name one blogger is not enough. I've met a lot of bloggers throughout my one year of blogging, from the Philippines and international. I'd love to meet these lovely people. And last December, I've got a chance to meet Pinoy book bloggers on our Christmas party!

Feature and Follow #19



Q: Give us a sneak! What are you reading? Tell us about a fun or fail scene in your current read.

A: I'm currently reading The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan and Reboot by Amy Tintera. I'm about to finish Beautiful and I just started Reboot but I'm liking it. I'll share you a little fun scene:
     I shrugged. "Maybe I can make him better."
    "Don't count on it," Lissy muttered. She stalked away. Hugo gave me another befuddled look, then followed her out.
     I turned to go, my eyes catching Ever's. She was smiling, her head cocked to the side, then she nodded as if to say, Good for you.
Reboot appeared to be dark dystopian novel, but there's also fun touch [romance] to it, like twenty-two Callum. I'm beginning to really like him--and of course, the book. ;)

Feature and Follow #18

Q: If you could hang out with any author (living) who would it be and what would you want to do?
A: Of course I'd love to hang out with the amazing authors behind the amazing books I read. Veronica Roth, Marissa Meyer, John Green, Stephanie Perkins, Sophie Kinsella, Cecelia Ahern, Meg Cabot, Alex Flinn, Colleen Hoover, S.C Stephens, Nikki Jefford, to name a few. As of now, I have no idea what to do. Maybe make them sign my books and take a pic with them? Then we'll talk about..books. ;) I don't know. I wish I wouldn't be shy and awkward once I meet them. XD

Feature and Follow #17


So after my Feature and Follow comeback two weeks ago, I disappeared again last week. *facepalm* Sorry. I was busy last week that I forgot to write my post. But hey I'm back again this week. :P

Q:  We are about to see a lot of posts & tweets about reader conventions, RT, BEA, ALA and many more are starting soon. Which one would you love to attend? Where and why?
A: You know this question depresses me? Because I live far away from the countries these reader conventions are being held. But if I were the richest person in the world and I can fly to countries I want and attend reader conventions, I'd go to all of them. Who doesn't want that?

Feature & Follow #16: The Comeback!



Now that I'm *temporarily* free of stress of college because of summer vacay, Michelle Shouts Random is now back with Feature and Follow! I'm hoping to see a lot of blogs to follow, and of course, new followers. It's so nice to do this again! Without further ado, lemme answer this week's question. ;)
Q: Tell us about the most emotional scene you’ve ever read in a book – and how did you react?
A: I've read a couple of books that broke my heart and made me tear up. The first book was Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. I also remember tearing up on P.S I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. The most recent books that made me cry are the books written by Colleen Hoover: Slammed and Point of Retreat. Thoughtless and Effortless by S.C Stephens also make my heart cry.

There were certain parts of these books that made me cry. And I realized that it's always because of the love they felt for that person. The true love, even if it resulted in broken hearts or tears of joy. Either way, it always make my heart react in a way and cry. I mean, I literally tear up when I read these books.

There were also books--dystopians or fantasy, to be more particular--that make me put on the edge. Of my seat. Not in a emotional-cry way but in a crap-my-heart's-pounding-so-hard-I-feel-like-being-chase-as-well and sometimes, it makes me scream out of frustration. You see, I'm always absorbed on what I read. XD

Feature & Follow #15




Q: WHAT IS THE LAST BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY? TELL US ABOUT THE SCENE.

A: Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover

I don't want to spill the exact details because I don't want to spoil. But seriously, I've been in a whirlwind of emotions from start to finish. I've cried in the middle of the book til the end--but not like, continuous crying (that'd be weird); more like crying some part and the other.

 It didn't just made me cry--it also made me fall in love with the characters and the book itself, and of course, the author. It was a really nice read and if you could read my review, you'd see how much the book had an effect on me. The first book, Slammed, did that to me as well. I so love Slammed trilogy. Can't wait for the last installment! (Though I don't think it would be needing another book. The ending was perfectly fine.)

Feature & Follow #14



Q: Activity! Who do you want to be? If you could choose any character from a book. What do you think that character looks like and what do you have in common?

 A: I love this question.

 I would like to be Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games or Tris Prior of Divergent.
I've been always wanting to be that kick-ass heroine. I have nothing in common with them both, though. They're just too..brave. Fearless. Dauntless. And with gorgeous love-interests. I don't have one. Maybe that's why I want to be like them. LOL :P

 I also want to be like Cinderella or any princess from a fairytale. I've always wanted to be in a fairytale. At least there, I'm sure I have a happy ending. :)

Mine..well. My stress has lessen, and I finally(!!!) had a reading progress. Phew!

Feature & Follow #13



Q: Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

A: I don't watch movies a lot like I read books so I'm not familiar to all movies (old or latest). But I did watched some awesome movies that could be great in a book/series.

Transformers. Spy Kids. Enchanted (the 2007 Disney film).

The rest of the great movies I've watched were based from the books.

Feature & Follow #12



Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

 A: Yes. A big YES.

 I don't like the idea of reading a book with the SAME concept, backgrounds, stories, etc. again and again.

 Originality is one major factor a reader seeks in a book. We want new, we want fresh. Nobody wants to read a book, watch a movie or listen to a song with the same concept on the previous book he/she read, watched and/or listened. That would be pretty annoying, let alone, boring.

 An author makes lots of readers and fans if he/she had an original work. And an author who copies is trying not to make one. Plus, originality of work shows the author's talent.

 I don't mind fairytale re-tellings that much, though. EXCEPT when the 're-telling' looked like nothing changed at all.

Feature & Follow #11

I'm back in Feature and Follow!!! YES! I've been absent with this Friday meme for a couple of weeks due to my busy schedule in school and blogging. Okay, now you can scroll down to for the question of the week and my answer. :D
Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

 A: There wasn't really things that irritates me when reading a book. I guess they only make me feel one step away from the book I'm reading, and it just...saddens me. Especially if I can see the book a lot of potential or is just really good.

 One is when on the very beginning of book, the female protagonist expresses her obsession on this guy. Even if that's the guy she'll end up with or it is, indeed, a love story, it always made my face turn into like sour one--especially if since beginning up to the end--all throughout the book, she's obsessing this guy. Um, can't she have a life?

 Next up is having third POV yet throughout the book, the scenes are focused only on one character. I think the connection between the reader and the main character loses with this. Third POV is fine if the scenes and the character focus changes every now and then. We'd understand that.

 Another thing that bothers me is when I can predict a book. I hate it when I always do. I don't like it when I know what will happen next, or what'll be the ending, or who is who. Most especially when I'm still in the middle of the book. I want surprises, I want new, I love guessing. It's such a great feeling when after reading that book you feel contented because it didn't just reach your expectations--it goes beyond it.

Feature & Follow #10


Q: What is the BIGGEST word you’ve seen used in a book lately – that made you stop and look it up? Might as well leave the definition & book too.
A: I forgot the latest! But there was one time when I was just starting to read, that made me stop and think of what is the meaning of Jump in his bones?? I remember it goes like this, "I think she wants to jump in his bones." That was Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella. I knew that it was a slang phrase but I honestly don't know what it meant THAT TIME. Now I know you think how clueless I am. I'm sorry, I'm not from your country (I'm not familiar with their..slangs) and I was just starting to read that time..and it wasn't YA.
So..I felt like first grader. LOL
